DescriptionThe desert locust (Schistocerca gregaria) is a species of short-horned grasshopper in the Acrididae family. They tend to inhabit deserts and dry areas across northern and eastern Africa, Arabia and southwest Asia. This species has an interesting ability to adapt its form due to environmental changes, over time. This can range from having no wings and being non-migratory (but with high fertility) through to possessing long wings that allow them to migrate across long distances into new habitats.
