Description BEGINNING ICONOGRAPHY LEVEL IV offers instruction on the icon of St. John the Baptist, (Forerunner) to complete the home altar Deisis of the Hagiosoritissa and Christ Pantocrator. Students will acquire skills unique to St. John the Baptist and other desert fathers and mothers, including how to render the wild hair and beard that represent their difficult lives in the wild, as well as St. John the Baptist’s harsh camel hair shirt, and painting distressed facial features of an ascetic – all are distinct attributes of St. John the Baptist. This more advanced class features an innovative alternative to painting the sankir, with advanced techniques for different types of hair.
